Reviewing a Community-Facing Service

Challenge

A community-facing service area required a structured review to better understand its current operating model, service demand, stakeholder expectations, resourcing pressures and opportunities for improvement. The service involved multiple internal stakeholders and had strong links to community outcomes, making it important to balance operational realities with strategic priorities.

Approach

The review used a collaborative process involving document analysis, service data review, staff workshops and targeted stakeholder conversations. The work explored service purpose, customer needs, current activities, strengths, pain points, duplication, gaps, risks and future opportunities.

Findings were translated into clear themes and practical recommendations, with an implementation pathway designed to support staged improvement rather than creating additional reporting burden.

Outcome

The review provided a clearer picture of the service’s role, value and future direction. It identified opportunities to improve coordination, strengthen planning, clarify responsibilities and better align service activity with organisational priorities and community needs.

Key capabilities demonstrated

Service analysis, stakeholder engagement, qualitative insights, recommendation development, implementation planning and service improvement.
